NYX Girls-Indigo Blue

Indigo blue is a nice medium/lightish blue with lots of shimmer.  It's really sheer, so I layered it over Zoya Purity to show the true color.  The other thing that I didn't like about this polish is that it's kind of streaky.  This was three coats over two coats of Purity, so it was kind of a pain to apply.  But after three coats, it came out smooth.  Because of the many layers, I completely jacked my pointer finger and didn't feel like taking the time to re-do the whole thing, so I just left it out of the picture.

Pretty color, overall, but not worth the effort of all those layers.  I really like how it looks over white, but I'm not sure if I'd like it on my bare nail.

What do you guys think?  Anything similar out there that's easier to work with?

It's Raining, it's Pouring...

Don't forget to enter my CONTEST!!

Yesterday we had a crazy storm here in northern AZ...like 1.5 in. diameter size hail.  Nuts.  So here's my interpretation of a rainy day on my nails :)  I started with a base coat and two coats of NYX Girls Dark Gray followed by q-tip clouds using NYX Girls Perfect Gray.  I added cloud details with Dark Gray and a small brush, then raindrops with Essie Smooth Sailing.  The raindrops didn't turn out exactly as I had hoped, but it was still pretty cute:

Have any of you done a rainy day mani on a cold and dreary day?  I felt it was appropriate :)

Thanks loves!

NYX Girls-Dark Gray

This color is soooooo pretty for fall.  A dark smokey gray with a creme finish.  I l.o.v.e. it.  Application is really nice, almost a one coater, but not quite.  These photos are sans topcoat:

Definitely has a blue undertone to it, which I like.  I think this is gonna be a really trendy fall/winter color...what do you think??

Blingy Gradient!

This is my very first attempt at a gradient mani...I think it came out decent!!  Of course, there's room for improvement, but I think it's pretty ok for my first try :)  I used a base of OPI Passion then sponged WnW Silvivor, NYX Perfect Gray, and NYC Black Creme.  I added some silver glitter by SC afterward :)

I think I should have used a different sponge...I just used a cosmetic sponge that came in a compact.
Overall, I really love this mani!!  I think it looks mysterious and edgy, but has some class at the same time.  What do you guys think??  Are you fans of gradient manis?

Water Marble Attempt #2

So I was bored last night and decided to try my hand again at water marbling.  I tried once before HERE, but it was my first time and my pictures were awful, but hey, I tried :)  Anyway, I thought this time was a bit more successful.  I still need practice getting my nails to be more uniform.  As you can see from the pictures, they all look really different.  This time I taped off the skin around my nails to avoid horrendous cleanup (a step I forgot last time).

For this mani I used:
Nail Magic Base Coat Therapy
China Glaze For Audrey (base color)
Nabi Rose
Sinful Colors Verbena
NYX Perfect Gray (got really sheered out, can't really see it)
Out the Door Topcoat

Let me know what you guys think!  What are your favorite color combos for water marbles?

NYX Girls-Perfect Gray

Today's notd is Perfect Gray by NYX.  I tend to gravitate more toward smokey colors like this, but this one fell a little flat for me.  The formula is way streaky with the first two coats...it took three coats to get the formula smooth on the nail which would be worth it if the color was something special.  Unfortunately, the color is kind of drab.  There really isn't anything that special about this gray. It actually looks kind of dull :/  These photos were three coats, no topcoat.

Strangely, this polish dried matte with the first coat, but shiny with the second and third.  Does that happen to anyone else with certain polishes?  Anyway, if you are in need of a medium gray on a budget, I'd consider this.  It also might be good as a gray base for a konadicure.  Otherwise, I'd take a pass.
What do you guys think??
