Sally Hansen-Lacey Lilac

Today's NOTD is Lacey Lilac by Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear.  This color is an opaque lilac cream.  I found the formula to be a little thick on application, but a little thinner would take care of that.  On the nails, the color is very flattering, especially for people with a bit of a summer glow :)  It does appear a bit chalky, as you will see from my photos.  Again, a bit of thinner will take care of that problem. (Sorry about my ring finger, somehow some bubbles formed in my topcoat without me noticing until it was too late).

This color is great for spring and summer (and affordable, too!).  Indoors, this polish is a bit more purple than in the sun.  I tend to like it more in the shade :)

Tell me what you think!

China Glaze-Lubu Heels

Today's notd is Lubu Heels by China Glaze.  it is a black jellyish cream with red sparkles in it.  Sounds pretty, yes?  I had high hopes for this polish, but it fell a bit drab on the nail.  Even after a coat of Seche Vite, I found it a bit dull.  Also, the red sparkles in it don't show up nearly enough for my liking.

As you an see from the first two pictures, the red glitter is pretty subtle.  The third picture is with flash to try to pull out the glitter, but it's still not as prominent as I would like.  Maybe I should have done a third coat...I feel like it would have been a bit more rich in that case.
If you are a fan of subtle glitter, this may be an amazing polish for you, but it's not too hot with me.
Also, clean up on this is...interesting.  Glitter+black=not easy on my cuticles!

Have any of you tried this polish?  I'd love to hear what you thought of it!

China Glaze-Heaven

When I picked up this polish, I picked it because of how beautiful it looked in the bottle.  I had been looking for an opaque nude color that didn't make my nails look "dead".  This nude has very subtle silver shimmer throughout it.  This color reminds me of OPI's Privacy Please, but a bit more opaque and with shimmer.
Application was a bit streaky, but manageable because I love the color so much :)

This was 3 coats over a base coat with a coat of Seche Vite on top.  Sorry my skin around my nails looks so red...it's not the polish.  I had just taken off a super bright red/coral and it slightly stained my skin :/
There is a slight bit of VNL, but I really don't mind.  It's barely noticeable :)
Let me know what you think!

Sally Hansen-Sonic Bloom

Today's notd is Sonic Bloom by Sally Hansen Insta-Dry.  I have been somewhat apprehensive to wear this polish for a while because it is so bright!  I would consider this a very bright coral red.  Bordering a neon red, but it's definitely not a neon finish.  After wearing this polish for a couple of days, I have really grown to like it!  It's a red that is better suited for summer as it is definitely fun and bright!

I felt that this color was asking for a konad! Now I don't want to take this polish off!!!
What do you think??

my first tape mani!

I have been seeing so many beautiful tape manicures on various blogs and since I had never tried one, I figured it was time!  It didn't turn out as awesome as I wanted it to, but it was my first try :)
Sorry my picture is so wonky, but I didn't really like how it came out and was in a hurry to take pictures before I took it off.  Anyway, I layered Wet n' Wild's Silvivor (insta-dry formula) over my previous manicure of Blue Moon.  I like how my ring finger came out, but I severely crapped up my middle finger.  Now I know better, I guess.
Basically, I just cut a bunch of really thin pieces of tape and laid them across my nails where I didn't want the silver color to be.
this is what I wish it turned out like...from lovepolish.blogspot.com
I'll try this again someday.  For my first try, it didn't turn out horribly, but it was far from awesome!

Wet n' Wild-Blue Moon

Today's notd is Blue Moon by Wet n' Wild (the original Wild Shine collection).  I really wasn't expecting much from this polish but picked it up because it was only 69 cents on sale at Walgreens.  Boy was I proven wrong!  I put on the first coat of this and was a bit underwhelmed.  After the second coat, though...wow!!  Holy cow, so dimensional and beautiful.  Midnight blue with teal shimmer.  I can't stop staring at it!  I've never owned a polish similar to this one :)
enlarge this picture!  you won't be disappointed :)

I couldn't seem to get any pictures that do this one justice.  In person, the teal shimmer really gives the polish dimension.  I feel like this one is a shimmer, but borders on a jelly.  Application was really easy and smooth.  No streaking whatsoever :)  I am afraid that this one will stain my nails hardcore, though.  I'll keep you posted!
Overall, I'd highly recommend this polish for a beautiful midnight blue!

Nabi-Rose

Today's nail of the day is Rose by Nabi with OPI's I Juggle...Men on top.  Nabi is a brand of nail polish that I had never heard of before.  I found it at a local boutique here in Flagstaff, AZ, and I have no idea where else you can get it besides online.  Anyway, this color is a slightly cool toned medium pink.  Originally, the formula on this was EXTREMELY thick.  Like Konad "special" polish thick.  I had to add 15 drops of thinner to get it down to a good consistency.  Also, the smell of this polish is beyond strange.  Like no other polish I have ever smelled. After I thinned it, application was smooth and opaque in two coats.  Pics!
shade.  here you can really see the blue tones. and apparently
i cant paint the inside edge of my ring finger :)

sun.  nice medium pink.
I added the OPI on top to give it a little oomph.  The shimmers in it reflect blue which plays nicely off of the blue tones in the Nabi.  Indoors, this polish bends a bit fuscia.  Still very pretty.  Overall, I don't think I would reccommend this polish brand.  The brush on it is really nice, but unless you want to spend a ton of time thinning to a good consistency, I would pass.  I think I paid about $2.50 for it.

Another strange thing about this brand of polish is that when I searched it online all the bottles looked like this:
But my bottle looks like this:
It says "new and thick formula".  No kidding.  I probably would have liked the old formula better!
Anyway, tell me what you think!!! Have you ever tried a Nabi polish?

Sally Hansen-Commander in Chic

Today's nail of the day is Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Commander in Chic
This color is one of my all time favorites.  It is so beautifully "chic" and goes with everything.  I would describe this as a dusty purple/plum cream.  Although it is purple, it is still neutral.  The formula on this one is a dream.  Two coats to a perfect opaque finish.

In my opinion, this color is better suited for fall and winter, but I can't resist wearing it all year round!

Tell me what you think of this color!

Essie-Smooth Sailing

Today's nail of the day is Smooth Sailing by Essie.  This blue is by far my favorite that I own in nail polish form.  Every time I look at the bottle I want to take off whatever I have on and put this one on!!!  Anyway, it is a medium periwinkle-blue with silver reflects.  Can you say gorgeous??

Check out how amazing this blue is.  Usually I don't care for blue nail polish because it typically isn't very flattering on me.  This, however, is beautiful! Perfect for summer, in my opinion :)

Sally Hansen-Coral Amber

Today's nail of the day is an oldie but goodie.  Sally Hansen's Nail Prisms in Coral Amber.  I have had this polish for EVER, but never seemed to get around to wearing it.  I don't know why either, because this is a beautiful coral holographic polish.

look at that holo goodness!!

shade- boring, but it shows the coral base color
Application of this polish was smooth for the most part.  A bit patchy at some points but two coats evened everything out.  Also, after a couple days of wearing this polish, I got some very noticeable tip wear and chipping.  I was being a bit rough on them, however.  Overall, I am loving this polish for summer!

May Favorites :)

Since it's the beginning of June, I thought I'd let you all know what my favorite polishes for the month of May were!  These four polishes were basically all I wore in May, with the exception of swatching.

Sorry about the poor lighting...anyway!

From left to right:
China Glaze-For Audrey
Orly-Rage
OPI-Cozu-Melted in the Sun
Essie-Smooth Sailing

These colors are so springy and amazing!  For Audrey is an amazing creamy light teal.  Perfect for spring days :) Orly Rage is a metallic rose gold.  The OPI is one of my all time favorites.  It is a shimmery pinky beige.  Smooth Sailing is a super unique medium blue with silver reflects that really lights up in the sun.

I have a feeling I'll be reaching for these all through June as well :D
